Idaho Senator Larry Craig Violates Public Bathroom Protocol With Suspect Behavior
This is for the men out there. What would you do if you’re in a bathroom stall and the guy in the stall next to you moves his foot under the stall, so that it’s touching yours? The only correct answer involves a “WTF!” For the more aggressive, the pants come up, the stall door is kicked open and the beating begins.
On the other hand, some men might take a game of footsies as a sign that they’re open to some homosexual fun and games.
On June 11th Idaho Republican Senator Larry Craig was involved in just this kind of situation.
The action went down in a Minneapolis-St.Paul airport bathroom that was being investigated for complaints of homosexual activity. A few arrests were made weeks earlier; Sgt. Dave Karsnia was there to continue surveillance.
As relayed by Roll Call a DC newspaper..
Karsnia entered the bathroom at noon that day and about 13 minutes after taking a seat in a stall, he stated he could see “an older white male with grey hair standing outside my stall.”
The man, who lingered in front of the stall for two minutes, was later identified as Craig.
“I could see Craig look through the crack in the door from his position. Craig would look down at his hands, ‘fidget’ with his fingers, and then look through the crack into my stall again. Craig would repeat this cycle for about two minutes.”
Craig then entered the stall next to Karsnia’s and placed his roller bag against the front of the stall door.
“My experience has shown that individuals engaging in lewd conduct use their bags to block the view from the front of their stall,” Karsnia stated in his report. “From my seated position, I could observe the shoes and ankles of Craig seated to the left of me.”
“Craig tapped his right foot. I recognized this as a signal used by persons wishing to engage in lewd conduct. Craig tapped his toes several times and moved his foot closer to my foot. I moved my foot up and down slowly.
While this was occurring, the male in the stall to my right was still present. I could hear several unknown persons in the restroom that appeared to use the restroom for its intended use.”“The presence of others did not seem to deter Craig as he moved his right foot so that it touched the side of my left foot which was within my stall area.”
“Craig then proceeded to swipe his hand under the stall divider several times..”
and Karsnia noted in his report “I could ... see Craig had a gold ring on his ring finger as his hand was on my side of the stall divider.”
Karsnia then held his police identification down by the floor so that Craig could see it.
“With my left hand near the floor, I pointed towards the exit. Craig responded, ?No!? I again pointed towards the exit. Craig exited the stall with his roller bags without flushing the toilet. ... Craig said he would not go.
I told Craig that he was under arrest, he had to go, and that I didn?t want to make a scene. Craig then left the restroom.”
Craig was detained for 45 minutes, during questioning he reportedly offered his business card as identification and asked the officer, “What do you think about that?” Suggesting.. let’s just make this go away.
To make it go away Larry Craig pled guilty to lewd conduct charges.
The story wasn’t widely known until yesterday. Now that it’s out, Larry Craig says he never should have pled guilty, that he made a mistake not consulting a lawyer. His explanation for the footsie action was that he has a wide stance when sitting on the bowl.
It should be noted that Larry Craig is married and has taken anti-gay positions in Congress.
What kind of person pleads guilty to making homosexual advances?
The kind that thinks a quickly paid fine would bury the story.

Chickens coming home to roost moment aside… how is footsie and hand waving a cause for arrest? I could understand if he had stuck Little Larry under the door, but this makes no sense to me.
Thats a bullshit arrest. Sure the dude is gay, but thats a straight up bullshit arrest.

What would the police officer have done if the hand were a little younger, maybe even more muscular? He seems to know a little too much about gay behavior to not have inquired into the position himself.
Oh come on guys. There are STRICT rules regarding bathroom etiquette. They are unspoken and all (normal) guys know them.
1) No talking in the men’s room
2) No talking in the men’s room, especially in stall
3) Avoid all touching, give other men wide berth
4) Always have a 1 urinal gap
5) Do your business, then leave
6) Stalls are for #1 and #2, thats it.
7) Bathrooms are cold and unfriendly for reason
8) Sex in bathrooms, even with a chick is for teenagers and perverts. Get a hotel room.
Senator Craig is your typical closeted lying Republican. He hates homosexuality but sees no problem with engaging in homosexual behavior. Its not the homosexuality its the HYPOCRISY.
The officer was undercover for a reason; there had been complaints of “lewd conduct” in the bathrooms for some time. To put that to and end, they set up this sting operation. It’s not a “bullshit arrest”.

The whole thing sounds fishy. It could have been defended if he did not fall for the fake lets make a deal game. It would not surprise me to find out the cop is a democrat.

Your foot must be numb from sitting there as he did not know he was touching another mans foot. Oh, and maybe his glasses were fogged up and he was just reaching for some toilet paper.
Ok, then, why plead to anything. Just tell them they are nuts! Flashing his ‘business’ card was not the get out of jail free card for the ‘business’ in the men’s room he thought it would be.
Just plead not guilty. I would have! I had never heard of such ways to ‘connect’ in a rest room and I would have stuck to that story. After all, I would bet 75%-% of the straight population would say they had no clue about that behavior - ‘secret handshake, oops footshake’ in the restroom.
Well, Craig is resigning. His “I will not resign” sounded all too familiar to me. It sounded like a fellow republican ..“I am not a crook” Hmmm.. he resigned too!
senator craig needs to learn how to pee in the bathroom with out sitting down so that his pants will not fall down…by the way why does he wear pants without a fly? he should learn how to unzip his pants and pee!
Here’s what I want to know, though I don’t think it will come to light: what exactly was the cop doing when the senator was peering at him through the crack in the stall door? One of the first things the Sen. said when interrogated was “you solicicted me.” The cop didn’t respond to this. I’m down with the Senator going down—got what he deserved, I reckon—but I wonder if the “lewd” behavior didn’t start and end with the blond, pretty-good-looking cop.
