It's been a long time coming but Nicki Minaj has finally dropped her debut album, Pink Friday. Her funny-face antics and thick-bottom sexiness has been judged by brass critics who label it all as a gimmick. With all sound and no sight on Pink Friday, Minaj takes a shot at proving she deserves the hype.

The opening track "I'm The Best" gives listeners background on Onika Maraj, the transition and reason behind Nicki Minaj. The constant hate must have lit a fire under her ass because on "Roman's Revenge," Minaj puts her playful and amateur punchlines together to get her point across to the has-beens. The material on the third track "Did It On Em" is tremendously dumbed down. With a chorus boasting "Man, I just shitted on 'em," Minaj raps simple bars like:

"Just let them bums blow steam...radiator."

"She ain't a Nicki fan then the bitch deaf dumb/ you ain't my son, you my motherfucking step-son."

"If you could turn back time...share/You use to be here (hair) now you're gone...nair."

While fans don't expect rocket science to go into lyrics, they do deserve more than child's play. With such a hard beat and ill hook, Minaj could have come a lot harder. Beside this, the theme of being the most hated female MC continuously repeats itself. Pink Friday's major highlights appear later in the album on "Moment 4 Life" featuring Drake and "Blazin" featuring Kanye West.

Minaj surprisingly chose to switch gears early in the album from hip-hop to a sound closer to R&B and Pop. For her Barbz, Minaj lets her soft side show on "Right Thru Me," "Save Me," and her #1 billboard single, "Your Love." And with records like the closing track "Last Chance," it's still a strong possibility that Pink Friday will help Nicki Minaj accomplish the goal of becoming much bigger than hip-hop.

So until her next feature you can forget about getting any hardcore records from this Barbie. What did you actually expect? You knew she was playful and rocked pink.
