Cam'Ron Calls Jay-Z "Pretty" and Other Things of That Nature - 1:46 p.m.After years of heavy meditation and numerous Sizzurp induced hangovers, the prophet came down from the top of the mountain with revelations. "Hear ye, Hear ye, fair-weather people, I've news for you about worshipping Gods of the false persuasion. Gods of camel like resemblance. Gods who wear sandles and shorts at fourty years of age, or somewhere abouts. I say to you, your God ain't my God. Phuk Your God. I am Cam'ron. This is Dipset. Chapter 1. Keep sipping." Before anyone says the obvious, that this is old news, I wasn't able to talk about it last week. So here I am today, as the smoke begins to clear from the blast this caused on the underground. First off, I'm a fan of Jay-Z, but we aren't fam enough that I care either way if he's dissed by the next man or not. His beefs aren't mine. So I listened to the diss mixtape track "You Got It" with open ears. "Yo, Cam dissed Jay-Z!" That was the word, what I heard was something less than a diss, sounded more like frustration, disgruntled employee talk, jealously, hate for no reason.. you get the idea. A diss coming from Cam'ron, who had been silent about anything involving the Roc-A Fella split, should have some new information. In the shared XXL cover story with Dame, Cam took the high road, saying he had nothing to say about Jay either way, he was busy working on his own things. Yet here he comes a year or more later with a clap out of nowhere. So what's the new info, the dirt on Jay that would warrant such a move? It's nonexistent unless you consider the aforementioned revelations from the mountain top (Harlem is on a hill, right?)
That was the diss he threw Hov's way and promised that it was the first of many to come; 15 rounds of that? If I'm Jay there is no way that I'd respond, because you know how could you rebut such brilliance? Cam did nothing but make himself look bad. Dipset are underground Harlem mixtape champs, they kill shit in NYC. On a wide scale though, they hold no weight. And Cam knows it, that's why he said as much on the song, mentioning that as long as NYC knows the truth he's done his job. The question is what kind of curtain is he pulling back? There is no secret that he put out there. Everything he said, people have known for years and years. On these very pages I put down my side by side comparison of Big's verse vs. Jay's line for line biting on "Give it to Me".. "When the Remy's in the system.." Joe Camel, his age, etc. It's nothing left unheard, even to the teeny boppers that Cam is apparently targeting. Cam'ron is on cover of the latest issue of XXL, in the context of their recent reconciliation, he speaks about not only Jay's age, but Nas as well. "Them niggas just don't got anything else to do. I don't really have too much to comment on that whole thing. They both almost 40. Seriously, can a 15, 16-year-old relate to a Nas-Jay-Z move? Do they really give a fuck? So if a 15, 16-year-old don't give a fuck, neither do I." Later in the article he contradicts himself by saying that if Jay were to release a new album it might be hot, but gets back on track with.. but he's 40. That's the big diss. Dude's too old to rap. Guess what? He's retired. Guess more? If he dropped an album not only would it add to the list of consecutive summer bangers, it would do numbers Cam has never seen.. even the 15 - 16 year-olds are copping. Again.. Jay's not fam.. this is just the obvious. And isn't Dame approaching 40, still wearing jerseys? Cam also talks about the DC carjacking, which as he describes it, is sounding like an attempted murder. Not an exaggeration, that's what I'm getting. He said that he was sitting in his car with someone, his crew in cars behind him and some guy walks up to the car flashing the Roc-A-Fella sign, then pulls out and starts popping. There is no way to know if Cam added that the kid through up the Roc sign, which would give a reason for him to come at Jay. That's something he's never said til now. My guess is if it happened that way, he'd have more to say than the one line, more anger about the thing. If it did happen like that it's possible the kid did it on his own. What reason would Jay-Z have to to put a contract on Cam'ron's life? They've had no beef until now. You'd like to say that maybe it was behind the scenes stuff, but again.. there is no new anger in Cam'ron's diss. It's pulling up old stuff, for reasons that remain a mystery. Does Jay retaliate? Unless people start rocking to Cam's words, I don't think so. If you've seen any recent pictures of Jay though, he looks unhappy. Like he's sad about something. Not even upset. One thing's for sure, 50 Cent is watching this with a close eye. If Jay's crown gets tipped, shows a chink in the armor, he may actually be able to challenge Nas and Jay for the throne. Etc Etc: can't post without mentioning Kobe's 81. He's now the second highest sorer in NBA history. Make note: this won't be the last time. He'll flirt with 80 again this season. I'm saying 60 -70, just because he's that good right now and neither Phil Jackson or the Kobettes are gonna stop him from shooting. comments $item = "../comments/camron_dissesjayz.txt"; $counter = 0; $counter = howmany($item, $counter); if($counter == 0){echo "";} if($counter == 1){echo "(".$counter.") comment";} if($counter >=2){echo "(".$counter.") comments";} ?> |
