Q-Tip Gets Up With “Gettin Up”
Kamaal the Abstract, or as he will forever be known, Q-Tip, is wiggling back on the music scene. With a little help from the Hip-Hop Gods his second solo album The Renaissance will hit stores in a few months. Q-Tip teamed up with Nigel Godrich, the producer behind Radiohead, Pavement, and a few of Beck’s albums. Certainly a good combination.
In May, Q-Tip told the Los Angeles Times..
“Nigel is a big fan of rap. It’ll be cool working with him. We’re going to make a film out of the project too. He’s just on some real hip-hop stuff. It’s gonna be a lot of sampling. He’s really dope!”
Barack Obama will also make his rap debut: he has a monologue on the album.
The first squeezed track is “Gettin Up.”
Q-Tip “Gettin Up”
This is classic Tribe music. Get this album in stores; I got Ipod needs.

☼ What's Your Opinion? ☼
I dig it. Cool vibe…what you’d expect from Q-ti…I mean, Kamaal the Abstract.
I like the track and recommend it. Hope the album is more of the same.
...and I’m gone!
The song is tight…and Q performing it live was even better. I went to the Rock the Bells tour in Chicago and highly recommend that all real hip hop lovers attend the show in your city
