The Wayans Brothers Back on Track for Wayans World Theme Park
Imagine a Six Flags theme park with all the craziness of Scary Movie, In Living Color, Little Man, White Chicks and right next to the outdoor food court, while your putting down a chili dog and cheese fries, Keenan Ivory Wayans is hosting a talent show featuring the type of crumb list talents he brought to the stage back in 97’.
Talk about good times. Give me a plane ticket and a season pass.
The Wayans Brothers are in the skeletal stages of building their own movie studio and theme park in Oakland, California.
Last year Keenan Ivory Wayans met with Oakland city officials to pitch the idea of turning 70 acres of a neglected Army base into his idea of paradise. He gave them bright visions of a movie production facility churning out blockbusters, a shopping center with nothing but the finest in fast food delights: think Cinnabon, frosty Starbucks Frappucinno’s, Auntie Anne’s pretzels. How about a luxury hotel, and of course.. a theme park. The name: Wayans World? Homey’s Place?
Who cares. It’s about money.
The Oakland city council was looking at the 1500 jobs and tax revenues the project would create.
They happily gave the Wayans brothers (Keenan, Damon, Marlon and Shawn) approval to go ahead with the project.
That was last year. 18 months later, not one bulldozer, a crane, hell, just a shovel.. nothing has happened. They missed all kinds of deadlines, so this May the deal fell apart.
It could have been a case of taking on a little too much, the movie studio is a project in itself. Here they were talking about roller coasters and penthouse suites.
Not to be deterred the Wayans have signed a new agreement with the Oakland city council.
They’ve got new deadlines. I’ve got new hope for that greeting by Homey the Clown at the park entrance. (haha) Yeah, I want to see that theme park happen.
It has the potential to be crazy.
White Chicks bumper cars, blinged out and flossy, but you have to ride em’ with the Paris Hilton shades. Little Man basketball, the balls have Marlon’s face on it, the attendants, Tracy Morgan dress-a-likes. The prize.. a stuffed Little Man, of course.
The haunted house..
The possibilities are endless.
Seriously, forget the studio, theme park all day.
