Bonnie and Clyde (Foxy and Jay-Z)
In regards to being the boss Jay said, "Whatever my opinion is, I voice it; if I don't like it or if I love it. The same way. I'm rough, I'm tough, but fair." Foxy, who seems overjoyed to be reunited with the Jigga man said, "He's the cherry on the top. He'll come in at the end and say, 'This needs to be tweaked here. You need to say this like this.' Or 'You need more cadence." Jay says that they have their ups and downs, but the music is amazing. Jay is so inspired that he has hopped on three of the albums tracks.
"Jay wants to jump on every record," said Foxy. "I'll come in the studio and I'll hear a verse already recorded, like, 'Where did that come from?' But I love that. Jay is in a class by himself and doesn't easily get on people's records. For him to want to be such a part of my music means I'm doing a great job. There's definitely a 'Bonnie and Clyde' part four, five and six on my album."
She continued, "Nobody can touch the project without Jay's approval. I told him the other day I'm still humbled in his presence. I'm honored to be around him because I learned from him something new every day. It takes a strong person to humble me. I've worked very hard. I believe in people that are genuinely for you and not just have hidden agendas. Jay is genuinely for Foxy. Our relationship supersedes music. We've been friends since I was a little girl."
Foxy says that Jay is openly letting her explore doing music that relates to her culture. Foxy said, "The last album, Broken Silence, I did the reggae and hip-hop. I wanted to incorporate dancehall, reggae and soca into hip-hop. The powers that be at Def Jam weren't having it. Jay said, 'You're the only one that can do that, let's stick with that.'"
The first single is called "Come Fly With Me" and features dancehall artist Sizzla, who Foxy claims is one of her best friends. "Black Roses" is scheduled for release on August 23rd.
There's Foxy all caught up in her fantastical world of nonsense. Okay, it's great that Jay is going to be on her album. This could maybe generate some interest in someone other than myself. It seems like it's something Jay's doing more for himself than for Foxy. So far, Jay has been a bust as the president of Def Jam. Yes, the Mariah CD is great and it's doing big things on the charts, but let's be real, Mariah is going to sell regardless and I'm sure her album was in the works before Jay-Z was the president.
As for hip-hop, Jay chose to release Memphis Bleek and the Young Gunz, neither of which has ever been successful in the past. Smart move. Not. It's time for Bleek to hang up his microphone and call it a day. He will never succeed. He just doesn't have what it takes to be a successful rapper. His lyrics are corny and his flow is very weak. Four albums deep and he has not stepped his game up at all. It's time for Jay to find Bleek a new job.
The Young Gunz are young, maybe they can do something with themselves down the line, but for now, it's not working.
Now Foxy is up to bat. Her first album was hugely successful, due in large part to Jay, who wrote the majority, if not all of the lyrics. Her other two albums flopped. Chyna Doll was whack as hell. Broken Silence was a good album, but that didn't really matter, it still flopped. Foxy was going through all types of drama that overshadowed everything she was doing musically at the time. When Foxy needed Jay most, he deserted her. Foxy's memory seems to be awfully short if at all existent. Now it's all love between herself and Jay and he's the greatest man she's ever known. Foxy is so full of it.
During the fiasco that was the "Chyna Doll" album, Foxy was saying that Jay left her for dead and was running around with that crazy voiced Amil chick. She was going around talking about Jay like she made him. Now she's humbled in his presence. Lord have mercy. That's Fox for you, she seems to remember things as she wants to remember them and hey, that's her prerogative. I'm glad Fox and Jay are together again, but Beyonce better hold onto Jay with with a death grip. Foxy is crazy and I think she's in love with Jay and always has been. I don't care what she says about them being friends since they were both in diapers.
Now Jay wants to be all over Foxy's album. Well he better do something. From my vantage point it appears that he is running Def Jam amock. It's not like Def Jam was holding it down as it was back in the day anyway, but Jay has done nothing to make it better. If he's a great business man I certainly can't tell. He needs to pick the mic up again and do what he does best.
I have no idea who Sizzla is, but I find it very easy to believe that he is Foxy's best friend. In each interview she seems to find a new best friend. She must have grown up friendless because she always has a new best friend and tries to validate all her friendships by claiming to have been friends with these people since toddler hood. She's quite ridiculous.
For Foxy's and Jay's sake, I hope this "Black Roses" album is all it's cracked up to be. If this album is a bust, I think it will be the end of the road for Foxy as a rapper. She spends way too much time involved in extracurricular bullshit anyway. If she could focus all of that energy into her albums, she might fare a little better.
Hopefully Jay can breathe the same life into Foxy's career that she breathed into his with that guest appearance on "Ain't No Nigga". I wish them both well and as much as I think Foxy is a psychotic train wreck, I love her as an artist and really want to hear a quality album and I want it to do well. I also want her to get her mind right and to stop talking crazy. I am definitely hoping she can make a Mariah type comeback this time around. We shall see.
Game Loses His Damn Mind
It had been rumored for weeks that former G-Unit rapper Game had been making disparaging remarks about 50 Cent and other members of the G-Unit click. These rumors were never verified, but Game, being the person that he is cleared the rumors up for everyone this past weekend at NYC's Hot 97 Summer Jam concert. During his set Game brought out people in gorilla and rat costumes. The gorillas and rats were dressed in G-Unit t-shirts and were subjected to a mock beat down. The gorillas were a representation of 50 Cent, while the rat was representative of 50's alleged status as a snitch.
Game dissed 50 and his cohorts repeatedly and apparently got the crowd behind him while doing so. He also introduced the new slogan G-G-G-U Not.
I really wish I could have seen this. Why? I don't know. Miss Jones and crew tried to play the audio on the Hot 97 morning show, but I couldn't hear that shit. It was much too low and what I could hear was just a slew of beeps, as it seems every third word out of Game's mouth had to be censored.
This situation is going to quickly spiral out of control if somebody doesn't use their good sense and cut it out. 50's been awfully quiet these days, so I think it's Game who needs to sit his ass down somewhere. What was all that hugging and kissing that 50 and Game were doing at the press conference where the beef was supposedly squashed?
For the record, I am no G-Unit fan. I think I might even hate G-Unit. They just irritate me. 50 is the only one I can half way stand to listen to and he sounds just like Ja Rule with all that sing songy garbage. I love Game. Love, love, love him. His song "Dreams" is the only song in hip-hop that I'll listen to right now. It's the only thing that I like that is played on television and radio.
At the same time, Game better sit his dumb ass down and quit playing. This is not a game, he will get hurt and it doesn't have to be that serious. There was no need for him to go to Summer Jam and dis 50 like that. I think both Game's and 50's camps are full of a bunch of hot heads, so there's not telling what kind of violence could transpire from this incident. What we do know is that if there is another shooting to take place between the two clicks it will more than likely happen up at Hot 97 on Flex's watch and be instigated by Angie Martinez. That's just the way it is at Shot 97.
Game had a hell of a nerve running up in 50's own backyard dissing him the way he did. I don't go to Summer Jam anymore, so I was not there and all I know is what I heard, but from my understanding New York did not really hold 50 down during Game's little tirade. I don't blame anyone, but still. I bet if 50 was performing the Staples Center out in L.A. and was bad-mouthing Game, the crowd would not have tolerated that nonsense and some shit would have went down. I'm sure 50 is more well loved in L.A. than Game, who is homegrown, but those Compton people are awfully territorial.
I'm not mad that Game wasn't booed and I'm ecstatic that he wasn't hurt after this performance, but damn, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, ya'll did not hold it down.
I'd like to see this "beef" end before it gets too crazy. I think that neither 50 or Game is all that sane, so someone needs to be the better man and say, "I do not need this in my life" and just cut the bullshit short. I demand that they stop right now. Yes, me, of whose business this is none, demand that they stop the madness. I am not playing. I really don't want to see anyone get hurt over something so nonsensical. I think we've had enough violent deaths in hip-hop to last a lifetime. I'd hate to see one more.
Young Buck To Stand Trial
G-Unit rapper Young Buck, whose real name is David Darnell Brown, must stand trial on a single assault charge. Young Buck is accused of stabbing Jimmy James Johnson, the man who allegedly attacked producer Dr. Dre at the Vibe Awards last November. California judge, James Dabney found there was sufficient evidence to charge the 24-year-old rapper with the stabbing. Young Buck has pleaded not guilty to the charge and can face up to 8 years if convicted. A trial date has been set for September 27.
More proof that these rappers need to sit their asses down somewhere and do something constructive. Young Buck was seen on video wielding a knife, so things don't really look like they'll work out in his favor. I'd love it if they did, but next time he should think before he goes around stabbing people. If someone punched Dr. Dre in the face repeatedly and Dre stood there and did nothing, well Dre must have been comfortable with the situation and Buck and his knife should have never gotten involved.
Had the situation been reversed we all know Dre would have been running away from the scene like a track star. He would not have helped Young Buck in any way. These rappers seriously need to get it together. I wish Young Buck well with the trial and I hope that if he is acquitted, learns a valuable lesson from this situation and doesn't do anything like this again.
Kelly Osbourne
It's been just one short year since Kelly Osbourne, reality TV star and daughter of legend Ozzy Osbourne, completed treatment for an addiction to prescribed drugs. Not wasting any time, Kelly has again checked into rehab, this time no specific addiction has been cited.
Last Thursday Kelly entered Las Encinas Hospital, the same rehabilitation facility where her brother Jack was treated for his addictions a few years ago. A rep for the Osbournes wouldn't provide any details other than to say that Kelly is "dealing with personal issues.
"Poor Kelly. I really feel bad for her. She is only 20 years young and already on her second stint in rehab. That's sad. I blame her parents and the lifestyle they allowed her to lead. Money seems to make people lose their minds. I remember on "The Osbournes" Kelly was fresh out of rehab and going to a club with friends. These were more than likely the same friends she was getting high with in the first place.
Her parents kind of tried to persuade her not to go, but they didn't try hard enough. It's kind of hard to establish any type of boundaries where there never were any, so they wouldn't have been able to stop her if they wanted to.
When she came back home in the wee hours of the morning she claimed that she skipped the club and sat in a diner all night. Likely story. She was high. Even then, on the show, it appeared that Kelly was back on the road to nowhere. I wish her a speedy recovery and a lifetime of sobriety.
Nas and Nore
There are rumors going around that Nas and Nore were involved in a fight recently at a party thrown by Puffy. Details are all over the place, but I'm hearing that Nore hit Nas, and possibly Nas' wife Kelis over the head with a potted plant.
Rumor has it that Kelis was jumping into the fight with her man and that's how she ended up getting hit.
I really wish this would be confirmed or denied and the correct story would surface. I have no idea why Nas and Nore would be fighting. What I do know is that Nore is fat, he looks like he ate Nas; he shouldn't have had to beat him over the head with an African violet or whatever it may have been. He needs to cut it out. Maybe we can discuss this further when more details surface.
Tyson Beckford
Model Tyson Beckford suffered minor injuries as the result of a car accident on Monday. Tyson was driving in New Jersey when he lost control of his 2004 Dodge Durango and skidded into a utility pole. The truck burst into flames, but Tyson was able to pull himself out of the truck to safety before the vehicle was completely engulfed.
Thirty-four year old Tyson was rushed to the Jersey City Medical Center where he was treated for head trauma and cuts and then released. His longtime manager BethAnn Hardison confirmed that his injuries were not serious.
Okay, Tyson Beckford is a name I haven't heard since the dark ages. His accident seemed to have been really serious and I'm glad he was able to walk away with minor injury as it appears that the damage could have been much worse--even fatal. With that out of the way. Where the hell has he been. The last thing I heard about him was that he signed on to be a FUBU model. At least I think it was FUBU. Does FUBU still exist?
If BethAnn is still managing him, he either needs to fire her, or she needs to drop him. They don't seem to be doing each other any good.
